AREAS OF PRACTICE

Family Law - All areas of practice related to a family’s legal needs. Includes all of the below areas of practice.

Collaborative Family Law - A cutting edge family law dispute process that allows parents and spouses to work as a team with trained professionals to resolve disputes respectfully, without going to court. This method of family dispute resolution often brings families rewarding results that are quicker and more affordable than courtroom litigation.

Divorce - Dissolution of marriages. May include temporary and permanent court orders regarding child custody and support matters as well as property rights and alimony.


Child Custody and Visitation - Temporary and permanent court orders establishing a parent’s rights and responsibilities related to the custody, visitation and contact with their children. Applies to parents who are separated, divorced, or who have never been married.

Child Support - Temporary and permanent court orders establishing parents financial rights and responsibilities related to their children. Applies to parents who are separated, divorced, or who have never been married.

Paternity - Identifying the biological/legal parents of a child born out of wedlock. Includes temporary and permanent court orders regarding a parent’s right to child custody, visitation or support for parents have never been married.

Alimony - Temporary and future financial support paid from one spouse to another as part of a divorce proceeding.

Dependency - Family involvement with the Florida Department of Children and Families

Adoption - A court order that awards a person permanent legal parental status to a child. Could apply to any person that is not the biological parent of a child.

Termination of Parental Rights - A court order that permanently terminates all rights (custody, visitation and contact) and responsibilities (child support) that a parent has to their children.

Injunctions - domestic violence injunctions for family members, ex-spouses and household members; repeat violence injunctions for non-related family or household persons experiencing violence, dating violence injunction for those persons who are in a dating or intimate relationship.

Pre-Nuptial Agreements - contracts between spouses entered into prior to a marriage that will control the distribution of assets in the event of a divorce.

Post-Nuptial Agreements - contracts between spouses entered into during their marriage that will control the distribution of assets in the event of a divorce.

Name Changes - A legal change of name for adults or minors.

Mediation - a form of alternative dispute resolution (out-of-court method of resolving legal matters) headed by a neutral third party will hear input from all parties and assist the parties in resolving their legal disputes for themselves.

Arbitration - a form of alternative dispute resolution (out-of-court method of resolving legal matters) headed by a neutral third party who will make final decisions after input from all parties.
